Mizoram's most literate district town
Serchhip is a compact, prosperous district town in central Mizoram, consistently ranked among the most literate districts in the whole of India. Set amid rice fields and rolling hills, it is a centre of Mizo weaving and agriculture and a pleasant, quiet stop between Aizawl and the south.
Its main draw for visitors is the nearby Vantawng Falls, the highest waterfall in Mizoram, and the weaving town of Thenzawl close by, where traditional Mizo textiles (puan) are made on hand looms. It is a gentle window into everyday Mizo life.
