Aizawl
State capital
Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, clings to a series of steep ridges at around 1,100 metres — a city of tin-roofed houses stacked up the hillsides, narrow winding lanes, and some of the friendliest, most orderly street life in India. Deeply Christian and community-minded, it is a place where Sunday genuinely stops and visitors are met with quiet warmth.
It is the administrative, commercial and educational hub of the state, and the base for trips out to Reiek, Hmuifang and beyond. The vast white Solomon's Temple, the bustling Bara Bazar, the Durtlang hills and the state museum are its landmarks, and the new Sairang railhead now connects the capital to the national network.

Getting there
Lengpui airport has flights from Kolkata, Guwahati and Delhi; the Sairang railhead is 20 km away. An Inner Line Permit is required; plan around Sunday closures.
