The second city of Mizoram
Lunglei, the second-largest town in Mizoram, sits on a series of ridges in the south of the state, its name meaning 'bridge of rock' after a natural rock formation in the nearby river. Quieter and greener than Aizawl, it is the commercial and administrative centre of southern Mizoram.
The town is a base for the Khawnglung wildlife sanctuary, the Saikuti and Zobawk areas, and the beautiful valley of the Tlawng river. Like the rest of Mizoram it is warmly welcoming and deeply Christian, offering an unhurried, off-the-trail experience.

Getting there
About 5–6 hours by road south of Aizawl; the nearest airport is Lengpui (Aizawl). An Inner Line Permit is required.
