Talle Valley
A pristine forest trek from the Apatani valley of Ziro
The Talle (or Tale) Valley trek starts from the beautiful Ziro valley, home of the Apatani people, and climbs into the Talle Valley Wildlife Sanctuary — a pristine expanse of subtropical and alpine forest, bamboo, silver fir and rhododendron, alive with orchids, ferns and rare wildlife such as the clouded leopard. It is a wonderful immersion in the untouched biodiversity of the eastern Himalaya.
Moderately graded and done over a few days with camping and a local guide, it combines the cultural richness of the Apatani country with genuine wilderness. It pairs perfectly with time in Ziro, whether around the September music festival or in the clear spring and autumn months.
