Dzongri Trek
The shorter Kanchenjunga viewpoint trek from Yuksom
The Dzongri trek is the shorter, more accessible sibling of Goecha La — a 4–6 day route from Yuksom up to the Dzongri meadows at around 4,000 metres and the celebrated Dzongri Top viewpoint. For trekkers without the time or acclimatisation for the full Goecha La, it delivers much of the same magic: forest trails, high pastures, prayer-flag ridges and a grandstand panorama of Kanchenjunga and its neighbouring peaks.
It runs through the same Khangchendzonga National Park and requires the same permits and a registered guide, but is achievable for reasonably fit first-time Himalayan trekkers who take the acclimatisation seriously. Dzongri Top at sunrise, with the whole snow wall turning gold, is one of Sikkim's unforgettable sights.
