Reiek
A forest peak and heritage village above the clouds
About 30 km from Aizawl, Reiek is a forested peak of around 1,500 metres with a heritage village at its foot, offering some of the most accessible big views in Mizoram: on a clear day the plains of Bangladesh stretch away to the west, and on many mornings a sea of cloud fills the valleys below the summit. A short trek through orchid-rich forest leads to the top.
The heritage village recreates a traditional Mizo settlement, with typical houses and displays of tools, dress and daily life, and it hosts the colourful Anthurium Festival that celebrates Mizoram's signature flower. Reiek makes an easy and rewarding day trip or overnight from the capital.
