Dwijing Festival
A riverside festival of Bodo culture, food and adventure.
The Dwijing Festival is a large riverside carnival held on the banks of the Aie river at Hagrama Bridge in the Chirang district of Bodoland, western Assam, running from late December into the new year. Launched to showcase Bodo culture and boost tourism, it combines folk music and dance, ethnic Bodo cuisine, adventure activities (zip-lining, boating, cycling) and a big night market and concert line-up on a scenic river sandbar.
It has quickly become one of Assam's most popular winter festivals, a family-friendly celebration that spotlights the culture of the Bodo people and the beauty of the Bodoland countryside.
Know before you go
- Held near Bongaigaon in western Assam; easy to reach by road/rail.
- No permit needed for Assam.
- A good festival to combine with Manas National Park nearby.
