The Orange Festival of Adventure and Music at Dambuk is one of Arunachal's most exhilarating events, held each December in the orange-growing Dibang valley — a place so remote that reaching it means crossing braided river channels by 4WD. Set among the orchards at harvest time, it combines adventure sports (off-roading, paragliding, mountain biking, camping) with live music from Indian and international acts, all in a stunning frontier landscape.
It has become a cult favourite for adventurous travellers, offering a rawer, wilder counterpart to the Ziro music festival, deep in one of the least-visited corners of the eastern Himalaya.
Know before you go
- Reaching Dambuk involves river crossings — go with organised transport.
- An Inner Line Permit is required for Arunachal; book ahead.
