Jampui Hills
Tripura's orange-scented ridge in the clouds
The Jampui Hills, running along Tripura's border with Mizoram, are the state's highest and most scenic range — a cool ridge of villages, churches and famous orange orchards where, in the right season, the air is scented with citrus. It is the coolest, greenest corner of an otherwise low-lying state, with viewpoints over cloud-filled valleys and, on clear days, distant Mizo hills.
Home largely to the Lushai (Mizo) and Reang communities, the hills host an annual Orange and Tourism Festival in winter when the harvest is in. With homestays, gentle walks and a genuinely restful pace, Jampui is where Tripura goes to breathe.
