Gateway to the far-eastern valleys
Tezu is the headquarters of Lohit district in far-eastern Arunachal, a quiet valley town among the Mishmi Hills and the base for one of the great pilgrimages of the east: Parasuram Kund on the Lohit river, where tens of thousands bathe each Makar Sankranti to wash away sin.
The town has its own airport with Alliance Air services and is the gateway to the remote Dong valley — often called the first place in India to see the sunrise — and to the Kamlang and Dibang wildlife reserves. It is Mishmi country, rich in tribal culture and biodiversity.

Getting there
Tezu airport has Alliance Air flights; also reached by road from Tinsukia/Dibrugarh (Assam). A permit is required.
