Advantage Assam 2.0 & the investment wave
How Assam pulled in nearly ₹5 lakh crore of investment intent

In February 2025, Guwahati hosted Advantage Assam 2.0, the state's flagship investment and infrastructure summit, and the results reset expectations for the whole region. The two-day event drew investment and infrastructure proposals amounting to around ₹4.91 lakh crore, with 270 formal Memoranda of Understanding signed worth roughly ₹2.75 lakh crore across sectors from electronics and energy to healthcare, education, tourism and hospitality.
The headline came from India's biggest industrial houses. Reliance, Adani, Vedanta and the Tata Group together announced commitments of more than ₹2 lakh crore in the state — Tata's electronics and semiconductor push, Adani's airport and infrastructure interests, and large plays in energy and manufacturing. Beyond the giants, universities, multi-speciality hospitals, hotels and tea-tourism projects signalled that investors now see Assam as a serious destination, not a token frontier.
Investment intent is not the same as investment realised, and the state's challenge now is conversion — turning MoUs into operating factories, hospitals and hotels. But the summit's significance is real: it marked the moment the Northeast entered the mainstream of India's corporate investment conversation, backed by genuine anchor projects on the ground and by the connectivity and policy push behind them.
